Principal Secretary, Ministry of ICT & The Digital Economy, Visits Jiji Health to Explore AI-Powered Innovations in Healthcare.
Nairobi, Kenya—12th October 2023—Jiji Health was honored to host the Principal Secretary for ICT & The Digital Economy, John Tanui, MBS., at its offices. During his visit, he gained first-hand insights into the company’s cutting-edge health technology solutions and their impact on Kenya’s healthcare sector. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening collaboration between the public sector and innovative local enterprises in the health-tech space.

During the visit, the Principal Secretary engaged with Jiji Health’s leadership and engineering teams, gaining a deeper understanding of the company’s product offerings, particularly its Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) and Blood Management Information System (BMIS). A key highlight of the discussions was Jiji Health’s integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing blood services, a critical component in Kenya’s healthcare system.

“AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, and it is exciting to see a homegrown company like Jiji Health leveraging advanced digital solutions to address long-standing challenges in the medical sector,” remarked the Principal Secretary.
Jiji Health demonstrated how its AI-powered tools are improving blood management efficiency, optimizing donor engagement, streamlining inventory tracking, and ensuring timely access to life-saving blood supplies. By leveraging predictive analytics and automation, Jiji Health’s BMIS, Damu Sasa, is tackling inefficiencies that often lead to blood shortages and delays in emergency responses.
The visit also highlighted Jiji Health’s commitment to interoperability within Kenya’s digital health ecosystem. With seamless integration capabilities, the company’s solutions enhance data-driven decision-making and facilitate real-time tracking of patient and medical resource utilization.

“We are thrilled to share our work with the Principal Secretary and showcase how digital health solutions, including AI-driven innovations, are transforming healthcare delivery in Kenya,” said Aaron Ogunde, CEO of Jiji Health. “This visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to supporting local innovations that address pressing healthcare needs.”
